right, reading these guestbook pages
I was struck by the debate about girls
only go because the players are nice
looking. Personally I go for the game
which is miles better than football,
if there are one or two nice blokes
then its a bonus, but it shouldn't add
or detract form the game. Ok I do know
girls who do go because to the games
because they think they might 'score'
(so to speak) with a player, they ar sad
little girlies whho have no life and are
known around Nynex as the puck bunnies
they are usually about 14-16 years old
and can be easily spotted batting their
false eyelashes and wearing mini skirts
and very little else in the Arches! But
it is the same with any sport male or
female, I know girls who go to rugby
matches to look at blokes legs
(hello Sarah!) whereas some blokes
watch womens sport so top the bickering
because its the same for both sexes!

I've just been reading previous pages which have been signed in the past and i've come accross peoples views on why girls come along only for the men!! This, is true in most cases. I know i'm a girl and I do like the players but the only reason I come along to the matches is because...
I LOVE THE GAME!!!!! it is 100% better than football and the action is great the refs are S... and the atmosphere is amazing.
But I do get an inckling that most of the girls who do come along do so because of the players looks. What is the need??
At Platt Lane It came to my attention two girls who were throwing themselves at Kermit and were heard saying "see what you're missing?, this could be yours!" personally I don't think he could give a monkey's and Girl's, if you're gonna come to a hockey game, come because you enjoy the sport, not because you fancy Ruby, or Morin or any other player. They may be flattered to see a sign saying "I LOVE YOU RUBY" or who ever you may like, but don't you think that they may just want a sign with their name on because of their talent?
Think about it.

I would just like to say how thrilling and entertaining this season has been so far.
Like many people I was sad to see John Lawless go and most of the team (especially Nick Poole). It is nice to see how well Storm have developed since being taken over by Kurt and how well the old and new players have adjusted and are now able to work alongside eachother. I think it is a shame that so many players from different teams have to resort to violence when they are losing or because they have a grudge against a couple of the players either because they're talented in their game play or because they can't accept the fact that we're playing well in a particular game. [no-one in particular of course!!!] I think we have to thank Kurt in maintaining a team that can sometimes walk away from a fight and that don't turn to violence when were losing. Also he's more of a man than FURAYCHUK who need's a Kleenex every time the opposition scores a goal.
Hrivnak : congrats on your hatrick shutout
and to all the players Keep up the good work.

Colin, I appreciate that thinking that various players are nice looking doesn't make you any less of a supporter (I'm quite partial to Paul Adey and Ashley Tait myself!), but I still don't think it should be the ONLY reason for going to a match. The only reason I said what I did is that other guestbooks contain all sorts of hockey gossip and discussion, whereas this one sometimes seems to contain only "I love ......." and "We're two fifteen year old girls and we think that......is so gorgeous.....". It can get quite annoying.

at the Nynex since the first season.
This is difficult to explain, but bear with me please.
Does anyone remember the supporters chant that went:
J-A-, J-A-G-, J-A-G-O-, JAGO!
These days it is done with a drum, and everyone
shouts STORM instead of JAGO at the end.
If anyone remembers the original chant, please Email
me and let me know. I am trying to convert people,
so listen out for me in the Nynex chanting different
words to everybody else.

Ah, but that wasn't my point, Kara. My point was that these girls START by coming along for the players, or the music, or the atmosphere, or because their boyfriend brings them. That may last for a year or two - by then they've either quit or they've decided the hockey is enough of a draw on its own. Either way these lasses' money is as good as anyone elses. Let me give you an example. I couldn't convince my girlfriend about my obsession with football - all that standing in the cold didn't really do it for her. So I dragged her to the Hockey. She didn't have a clue about the game but she liked the warmth, the music and the atmosphere (and the frozen yoghurt!) so when I wanted to go back she agreed to come along. It took about two months (and one Wembley trip) to make her more of a fan than me. And yes, she does think some of the players are cute. I think Anna Kournikova's gorgeous - that doesn't make me less of a tennis fan (or give men a bad name)! Lighten up!

That's the point Colin, they don't love hockey, it's the player's bums/legs/stubble that they love, which is not a good reason for going to a hockey match. It's girls like that who give women a bad name in sport.
