Couldn't resist getting drawn into this debate
There was a quantum leap in the level of
performance of net-minders in domestic leagues
last season - nobody is going to deny this.
But what really separated the men from the boys
was their consistancy.
And thats what made Robins and Lyle the best n-m's
last season.
Finnie has the technical skills (witness first
period against Sheffield 2-2 at home, and whole
performance aginst 3-2 defeat of Devils away),
but i guess the guy didn't have right mental
attitude every game.
I guess that that this mental perspective only
comes with age and experience - which makes Lyle
even more of an enigma.
Does this argument mitigate Finnie?
Anybody else want to elevate this debate
above the level of just saying 'Finnie is crap'?
I wait with bated (yes, correct spelling)
breath....
