It is very difficult to explain without using my hands!! The goal judge's box is about a half a metre above ice level and about a metre and a half from the back of the goal, bearing in mind the goal judge's sitting position. If you can try to visualise this as two platforms and the insert a third platform for the position of the roof of the net, bearing in mind the padding around the metal work and the netting, there are blind spots before adding the distractions of players + goalie - do you get the picture?
