I don't think it's as straight forward as Alex makes out. Yes, you can look at the stats and say they're not to hot but really it depends what the defence in front of him is like too.
If he's having to kill the play all the time because there's no one to release the puck to it's bound to lead to more pressure more shots on goal and presumably more goals all of which erodes everyones confidence.
On the other hand if everyone is doing their job, confidence is high and the stats will improve.
